Join the Friends of the Maurice M. Pine Public Library and raise money and community support for your library.  The Friends are a 501(c)(3) organization so your contribution is tax deductible.

Please join us at our meetings! Meetings are the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm. Adults and teens are welcome! We need volunteer helpers organizing, setting up and PR for upcoming fundraisers.

Fair Lawn residents know that our library is one of the best in the area.  We know because we use the library, and because visitors from other areas always comment on the fine facilities, materials and service.  How is our library funded?  The Mayor and Fair Lawn Council provide over 90% of operating expenses from municipal taxes.  But these dollars are stretched thin covering basic services.  The Friends know that in order to have all the materials and resources the library needs, additional funds must be found.  They also want to be more involved and lend their support for library services and activities.  As the needs of Fair Lawn's children are close to their hearts, many Friends projects provide enhancements for the Children's Room.

Using money raised through membership dues and book sales, the Friends have funded:

  • Free Wi-Fi in the library

  • An Annual $1000 scholarship to a graduating Fair Lawn High School student

  • Recent DVDs and Videos

  • A Digital Camera; two heavy duty laser printer for color brochures

  • Computers and Software, including the educational computers in the Children's Room

  • Storytellers and Magicians and Puppet Shows

  • The Annual Bookmark Contest co-sponsored with Fair Lawn elementary schools

  • Children's Author Visits

  • Musical concerts for children, adults and families

  • A Puppet Theater with puppets

  • Special weekly entertainment for the Children's Summer Reading Program

  • End of the Season Celebrations for the Children's Summer Reading Program

  • The large-screen video projector that makes the children's and adult movie programs possible

  • The Motion Picture License to comply with copyright laws

  • The initial investment for the CD music collection

  • The initial investment for the Russian book collection

These are just some of the items the Friends have provided.  And just as important is the moral support that the Friends provide the Library and Library Staff.  Our Friends are truly friends!  Please consider joining.  Your contribution of membership dues and support will truly be appreciated.  Remember, your contribution is tax-deductible.
